Welcome!
Hello and welcome to my new blog, Reflections from the Heart(land)! Some of you might know me from my other blog, Qwerty's Thoughts, which I've been running since I was in second grade, all the way back in 2009. These days, that blog is an outlet for me to post recipes I've written and tested myself, and if you like to cook, I'd be happy to see you over there too!
This new blog is going to be for all things Heartland. I love the show, and I have for many years. My whole life, I've lived in or near Atlanta, in the United States. I have family in Brazil, and whenever I go see them, I always love to ride. I've been with the same coach since I started; my first lesson with my coach was the summer before the series premiered in Canada.
As for how I found the series, it was completely by accident. I was in middle school in about 2013, and I had gotten off the bus and come home. I wanted to relax and watch some TV before I got started on my homework that day, so I was more or less mindlessly flipping through the channels until I came across UPTv, which was broadcasting something with horses, so I was really interested, and I watched the whole episode. Now of course everything was horribly out of sequence, so I didn't understand much of what was going on in the plot, but I really enjoyed what I had seen, so I found out by the end of the hour that what I had been watching was called Heartland, and that it was available on Netflix. Once I knew it was on Netflix, I started watching the series from the beginning and I fell in love with it right away.
Last August, I made my first real foray into the internet Heartland fandom after having been a fan of the show for years, and my first and closest friend from there is Rachel, the wonderful admin of the @nocontextheartland Instagram and @heartlandooc Twitter accounts. Rachel and I actually met by accident shortly after I started exploring the fandom on the internet when the official Heartland blog featured one of her early tweets that had done particularly well for such a small account at the time. I read the article and I really enjoyed the memes, so I messaged her, and we've been really close ever since! Earlier this year, she recorded a two-part interview, and you can watch part 1 here and part 2 here. I just got around to watching that interview a few days ago, and it inspired me to create this blog! You can thank her for the fact that this blog now exists! (you're the best, rachel! love you!). Rachel writes fanfics which you can find here, and if I can talk her into it, she might guest-write on here too!
I am so excited to get even deeper into the online Heartland fandom and to share my love of this wonderful show with all of you! I'm always open to content suggestions, so if there's anything you want me to write about, leave a comment! The blog is just getting started, so I'd really appreciate it if you could spread it around to anyone you might know who is also part of our fandom!
Thanks for reading, and I'll see you in the next post!
